TSIC 2019 Strategic Plan

2015-18 Deliverables

Through strong leadership, passion and pure hard work, the Tasmanian Seafood Industry Council (TSIC) has successfully delivered against the 2015 – 2018 TSIC Strategic Plan.

Improving communication with members through initiatives such as the Seafood Industry News magazine, TSIC Update Newsletter, the Sector Group Subcommittee and the annual TSIC regional forum, amongst more.

Supporting member welfare through our #stayafloat branding has resulted in TSIC being national leaders in the journey towards drowning the stigma of mental health within our male dominated seafood industry.

Promoting our seafood story in a professional, polished, refined and innovative way through our Australian Wooden Boat Festival display, Working on Water program, Seafood Awards and a diverse range of other promotional activities.

Supporting the seafood workforce through the TSIC Seafood Jobs (www.seafoodjobs.org) online hub; the one stop shop for discovering employment opportunities in our amazing industry.

Working effectively with Government has delivered a Seafood Election Policy and the largest Government budget commitment Tasmanian seafood has ever seen; while persistent lobbying to government contributed to the EPA becoming the independent environmental regulator of the salmon industry.

On island Biotoxin testing capacity is perhaps TSICs biggest achievement and was the culmination of a dedicated and concerted TSIC campaign.

TRADITIONAL OWNERS
The Tasmanian seafood industry operates in the ‘Sea Country’ of the Palawa Aboriginal People. We acknowledge them as Traditional Owners. As an industry, we pay our respects to the Elders, past and present.
OUR MODERN INDUSTRY
Our vibrant Tasmanian seafood industry is passionate about bringing quality, sustainable seafood to the plate.

We also bring the Tasmnaian community $1 billion gross value and significant employment opportunity, which provides much needed support to regional communities.

We are a proud industry, excited by what the future offers.
TSIC has created a strong foundation for delivering an exciting and contemporary 2019-2022 future for the Tasmanian seafood industry.

A future promising exciting innovation and technology, which we can use to improve the quality and sustainability of Tasmanian seafood.

A future that will not be without its challenges, including continued environmental change, especially on our East Coast; changes in regulation; and changes to the structure and people within industry itself.

This 2019-2022 roadmap will build a strong and sustainable Tasmanian seafood industry. Together we can deliver a new, contemporary and exciting future for Tasmanian seafood.
