Join us for a day of professional learning about the Tasmanian seafood industry. ​

The Tasmanian Seafood Industry Council and NRM South, through the Tasmanian Smart Seafood Partnership, are hosting a pilot teacher professional learning and capacity building session about Tasmania’s seafood industry and marine resource management.

By participating in presentations and on-water tours you will hear from and network with:
  • Marine resource managers
  • Scientists
  • Industry representatives

​Speakers will focus on place-based and STEM-related issues including:
  • How technology supports improved sustainability
  • How biosecurity threats are monitored and managed
  • The status of the local seafood market
  • Aligning and applying the local seafood industry in the classroom

MORNING

Arrive by 8:30am

Presentations from ​fisheries scientists and
​marine resource managers

LUNCH

Enjoy a delicious Tasmanian seafood lunch,
presentation from a processor and retailer, ​and a processing facility tour

AFTERNOON

Tour a commercial aquaculture lease,
​​accompanied by scientists and industry representatives

EVENING

Debrief over drinks and discuss how to bring
​what you've learned into the classroom
​
Conclude at approximately 5 pm

NEXT STEPS

  • A formal invitation will be emailed to you in February with a more detailed program as well as guidelines for participation.  You are required to RSVP to that invitation to attend.
  • You will be expected to actively participate by providing feedback before, during and after the event about what you have learnt and how you have applied this in the classroom.
  • We aim to provide relief for your attendance.  Details will be provided when you receive your formal invitation.
