Are you a TSIC member who is a rock lobster / giant crab fisher, or who operates in the far NW?
Have your say - complete the survey
Have your say - complete the survey
For TSIC members who are rock lobster / giant crab fishers, or who operate in the far NWAs you may be aware, there is renewed interest from the oil and gas industry to conduct seismic survey exploration activities in the NW of Tasmania. TSIC has contacted members involved in the rock lobster / giant crab fishery and members who operate in the far NW to share their opinions and concerns about this proposed activity. We have sent correspondence to people we have emails for.
The most recent consultation process involves the proposed activity of ConocoPhillips. For context, ConocoPhillips have bought out the title from 3D Oil. 3D Oil initiated consultation discussions last year. ConocoPhillips has engaged TSIC as subject matter experts to assist them in the consultation process for the proposed seismic activity. TSIC is conducting this process in the best interests of its members, and our report to ConocoPhillips will provide a true and accurate reflection of seafood industry views and concerns for the proposed seismic activity. To assist TSIC with this process, we would like to hear from you. On the right are links to the most recent FACT sheet for the proposed ConocoPhillips seismic activity, including a questionnaire. By filling out the questionnaire you will provide TSIC with the relevant information required to produce a report that clearly articulates industry issues and concerns with the proposed activity, and seismic activity more generally. It would be greatly appreciated if you could answer this questionnaire and return it to me at jharrington@tsic.org.au ASAP. Over the following week, TSIC staff will be making a series of phone calls to members asking you participate in this survey process. This is your opportunity to participate by phone rather than email response. Alternatively, you can call the TSIC office and talk your way through the questionnaire, with TSIC staff documenting your response. I understand you may have previously submitted responses around seismic concerns for other proposed activities in this area. We have these on record so can easily reference these if your concerns remain the same. Please consider engaging in this process, as your views (and concerns) must be incorporated into this process to make a difference. Yours sincerely, Julian Harrington Chief Executive |
